Not gonna lie… I have the travel bug BAD! Since COVID-19 has pretty much locked down all travel for me and my family for the rest of 2020, I am itching to get away. My brain started drifting towards the memories of our Disney Cruise last year and how phenomenal it was. We can’t wait to go again!

Teachable Moment: “Did the same person do your hair?” asked Karen

So there they were – two Black women and one White woman sitting in their office break room. Black woman A (we will call her Alpha) was eating her lunch and minding her own business. Likewise, the White woman (we will call her Whiskey) was doing the same. Enter scene Black woman B (we will call her Beta). Whiskey apparently is under the impression that Alpha and Beta are wearing the same hairstyle and says, “Oh! Did the same person do both of your hair?"

Intro to The Ways of White Folks

One of the books I really enjoyed in one of my Black Literature classes in college was The Ways of White Folks by Langston Hughes. First, Langston Hughes is a phenomenal writer and an amazing storyteller. Second, the book is a collection of beautifully written short stories that deal with racism and the various forms it takes.
